How to Wear Civil Air Patrol Uniforms
CAP has several uniforms for Cadets to wear and several more for adult members to wear.

A PT uniform is appropriate, conservative clothing to run in. A t-shirt, shorts, socks and running shoes with optional sweat pants and sweat shirt in colder weather.

Saluting an officer
Salute only in saluting zones, basically, anywhere outside except the few places where it is prohibited. No saluting indoors or in no salute zones unless you are reporting. When you are walking by an officer, salute 6 paces before until 6 paces beyond the officer, or until the officer salutes back.
Saluting the American Flag
When walking by the American Flag, hold a salute 6 paces before crossing the flag until 6 paces after crossing the flag. Also, salute the flag during the pledge of allegiance and the star spangled banner.
Note #1: If you are indoors or in a no salute zone, place your right hand over your heart.
Note #2: If you are not in uniform, do not salute flag at all, again just place your right hand over your heart.
Note #3: If the star spangled banner is play but the flag is not visible, then salute in the direction of the music; if not in uniform place your right hand over your heart and face the direction of the music, unless in formation; stand at attention.
